(19) if the person you love did not love you, would you still wait for him/her?
Yes and no.  I won’t blindly wait, but I won’t actively search for another love interest since feelings dies slow.  More accurate answer would be carry on with life but carrying a faint hope.

Overworked…

November 13th, 2008 by rollakid

Workload is really all over the place and unpredictable in the service provider field.  There are times I loaf around counting how many screws the technicians left on the office floor, and there are times I skip lunch, work through my 1 hour lunchbreak just to finish my work.

Some people might say “It’s work, deal with it”.

My employer would probably say “That’s what I hire you for, if it’s so easy, I’ll do it myself”

Friends would say “At least you have a job, so many jobless people out there hoping you’ll quit”

And my parent would ultimately say “Go sleep at 9pm! Don’t wait till midnight! Sleep more then more energy work!”

And.. and I felt like.. well..

Help!

Help!~

But at least I have time to actually post something now…

Wireless Mouse makes more sense?

October 30th, 2008 by rollakid

Went to a client’s place today, and they complain that half their building cannot get any network connection, and the DHCP server cannot give their pc any IP address.  After things left us baffled for quite a while, our trainee technician who have been looking around instead of trying to trouble shoot the terminal, spotted something out of the ordinary.  It triggered the whole “follow where the line go” thing and we found:

Network Cable

Cable, bitten off by a rat.  Picture taken this morning by my colleague who climbed up to the ceiling.  Rat must have gone through that “hole” (aircond pipes actually) and have a bite at the cable on the way.

I suggest all cable manufacture to put some kind of rat poison inside the cable rubber wrap next time.

Clients…

October 21st, 2008 by rollakid

Dinner

I ate it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

It’s October, 10th month of the year.  Besides haloween and a tako, I can’t really think of anything else about this month.. (oh, besides Aya’s birthday and my dad’s birthday and someone else’s birthday yesterday).  It went by day by day peacefully but all of a sudden I feel like throwing my food at some of my clients.  Here’s a list of the variation, from good to bad to.. er.. whatever.

Good ones first:

IT know how type

These types are the best.  They rarely call you, understand (almost) everything you tell them, and willing to solve the problem over phones.  They will iron out all the little problems by themselves and actually do your work for you (thanks!), and if they eventually called you for support because things get out of hand, you are sure to be provided information regarding the problems and able to fix it imediately.

Rewarding type

Although not as helpful, I certainly welcome their hospitality.  They understand I traveled far just to fix their problems and sometime will reward me a little, mostly food.  If I timed it correctly, fixed their problem as soon as they called (within 2 hours, include traveling and fixing), and it’s lunch time when I finished, I get free lunch!

Thankful type

They know nothing, they call you whenever there’s a problem.  They listen carefully and will accept your reasoning of why you can’t go over imediately (like, already booked, obviously).  When you reach their place they greet you with a smile, tell you everything they know (doesn’t mean everything I want to know, but still helpful).  When you finish doing what you go there for, they will validate what they want and thank you with a smile.  I wish all clients are like this… well.. dream on.

Ok, that’s about it for the good type, following are neutral types:

The begging type

They look at you with puppy eyes and say please, please and please all the time.  It’s my work, you just ask me to do something and I’ll do it for you as long as it’s within my scope of work.  Sometime it got worse as they beg me to do something else that’s not under my scope of work, since it’s covered by another contractor and legaly I have no rights whatsoever to work on that thing, might even get into trouble if I do.  But they are like “please… you guys are faster, call them so troublesome and sometime just don’t come, or come also can’t fix it!!”.  Well, flattery isn’t gonna win any lawsuit if there’s one… oh well.

The no-plan-ahead type

They are nice, they smile at you, they talk to you in a friendly manner.  Most of the time they would drop in the “good” part, but then they never plan ahead.  In another word, they made me travel back and forth almost everyday, just to do simple task like delivering files etc (yes, the files are too big to be uploaded to the net if you’re wondering).

The blur type

My company have a contract with them, but they never called me to fix anything, and wonder why the system is down.  Made me wonder if they even know they have the right to call us system supporters.

And lastly, the bad one:

The whiners

They whine.  They won’t listen to you on phone.  They will want you to go down to their office without even telling you what’s wrong.  They just go “it just dont’ work! I think you have to come down here”.  I can count half a dozen time I traveled so far just to switch on a computer for them!!!  I used to think the troubleshooting part in user manual of electronics stupid because they say “check if the power is on”, but not anymore.  World is filled with such people.  They are not stupid, very educated actually, but ignorant.  I spent a great deal of time teaching them the simple troubleshooting steps… but what do I get?  Same phonecall, ask about the problem and I get “I don’t know, the staff says it’s not working, I think you have to come down and check, okay?”

URGH!

First Cat Food Experience.

October 18th, 2008 by rollakid

No.  I didn’t eat the cat food if you’re wondering.

The kitten is back, hungrier than ever.  It doesn’t seems to be scared of me anymore (yay!) as long as there’s food around.  It also doesn’t bother me taking pictures and sue me for invading it’s privacy so it’s all good for now.

Eating Friskies for kittens.

My D100… NOT… Just my camera phone.

Took me like 5 minutes to convince it that it’s edible.  Seems like the kitten enjoys the food, although most of the time was spent on chewing it and spitting it out.  I asume that it’s jaws isn’t strong enough yet.

The Rock Returns

October 16th, 2008 by rollakid

It rains, then it’s unbelievably hot, then it pours like cats and dogs again.  What a day.  Return home after picking up some “package” in the wet, socks soaks with water, shirt drenched, and return home finding that something has returns after 1 and a half month…

It’s back!

It’s back! The kitty that gives me that The Rock look I posted here.  So nice of it to come back and play.

It’s afraid of flashlight… I need a fast prime if I want to take more pictures of her.
